my mate from high school just opened my eyes to this creative creature a.k.a her fiance. enter Karl, from www.kakatagle.blogspot.com.au. he's entered one of his pieces for a competition running on Creative Allies, get behind this talent and vote here.
(that means "listen to the tape", i learnt it in year 8 Spanish class haha)
the older i get the more i observe other people's priorities and outlook on life. conversations between circle of friends have shifted from talks of our selfish wants and needs, to dreams and accomplishments. i sit and ponder from time to time about what my friends are up to and where in the world they are. it fills me with joy when i think of how far they've come. i don't measure they're success on they're bank accounts or how high up the hierarchy they are, but knowing they are truly happy doing what they love. they did not settle for what is comfortable, they're passion and perseverance got them there. if you've become so consumed with money and materialistic things, i don't have space for you in my backpack.
i say "life is weird", my friend says "life is beautiful". it's almost certainly what you make it to be. this little seagull represents life to me right now. he may look like he's walking around aimlessly, but look at that big smirk on his face... he's loving life and doesn't give a fuck what you think!
finishing work early means a trip down to Surry Hills for some therapeutic fabric shopping. the trip down to the Fabric Store takes me back to the good ole' TAFE days of scabbing free samples. i came back home with a bag of black goodies. leather on leather. my room is starting to look like a wildlife park with leather, fur and feathers hanging everywhere. i anticipate this collection to be my favourite! most definitely.
sometimes you can just tell when lovers started out as best friends. this actually made me smile and filled my heart with gooey stuff. it maybe that i have been listening to Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" on repeat. but nevertheless, it's always a good feeling.
my little brother found out i've been taking photos in his room, haha! who ratted me out? such good lighting tho. here's an original Norman Noriega piece paired with my creepers. the cool season is heading my way, and i cannot get enough of it!
"I am aspiring to be an awesome children's book illustrator/author!
I absolutely love drawing and being creative... most of all, I love big belly laughs!" -A.
and so the press work begins... one of my favourite friends in the world is joining us once again to collaborate on this momentous project. i've known Alexis since 2001, where we met in biology class. i like her because she shares her chip sandwiches with me.
i've often posted about my not so devious plan to conquer this world, and like my clairvoyant advised me last month, i'm paving the right path. not only did we get the green light for our exhibition, it falls on the eve of maidenthreads.blogspot's 4th birthday! what are the chances of that?!
on the same day work gave me the reigns to not only drive the styling for the windows but to also share the love with my fellow colleagues. so there you go kiddies, being nice, working hard and smiling does pay off. the girl next door is a softly spoken introvert who has somehow persuaded the hierarchy that her vision is not only weird... but awesome! it also helps surrounding yourself with positive people who motivate you and also know how to smile! :)
not quite sure how these long distance relationships work, but everyone seems to be in one at the moment. the feeling of leaving someone behind is a little on the down side, but if you return and the distance didn't change a thing, then that's something to smile about i guess. i miss youLike Crazy.
